About

My name is Rodney and I’ve had a love-hate relationship with haunted houses for over 15 years. When I started in this industry, I was an actor working for The House of Horrors in Buffalo, NY. Later, I would apply myself to Final Fear’s building and design team while continuing as an actor. Between these two haunts I gained 8 seasons of experience, learning what were effective strategies for improving the customer experience.

After my first trip to Transworld, I began noticing a large number of disparaging attitudes directed at customers and smaller sized haunts. The trend continued for many years, both online and at the haunts themselves. What I saw upset me, shattering the once rose-colored glasses I viewed the industry through. It sparked my YouTube channel, THECOLOROFDYE, which primarily focuses on honest haunted house reviews. I’ve run the channel now for 6 years while visiting over 50+ events across the country.

My goal has been to give a voice to customers who are dissatisfied with the lack of sincerity and passion within haunted houses. I would love to work with anyone interested  in bettering the industry.

Reviews

In 2015 I started reviewing haunted houses across the country and posting those experiences to YouTube. In total, I’ve been to over 50 haunted houses. My style is a combination of honesty and comedy. I frequently use clips from horror movies to explain my frustration or elation over any one show. I pride myself on not being a sell-out and staying true to my own opinion.

For 2021 I will be charging $750 per review for events within 300 miles of Buffalo, NY (pending availability). Videos typically run between 10-15min. View counts heavily depend on when the video is produced along with the event location. Haunt attendees are looking for reviews preemptively rather than to reminisce post-show. The earlier the review is made in the season the more I expect potential customers to encounter the video.

By NO MEANS does paying for a review guarantee you a positive one. We all know that the only “reviewers” in the haunt industry are doing so for free tickets and a pat on the back. This is contradictory to how an authentic review should be. I want to work with people who are confident and passionate about their haunt. That is my brand and if you don’t like you don’t have to work with me. That said, working directly with me allows you to explain through reviews why there may be any issues inside the show.
